Take Your Child to the Library Day is a celebration of the opportunities and benefits that children receive from libraries, from simple access to books, films, and online media, to fun activities and chances to learn and socialize. Founded in 2011 at the Waterford Public Library in Connecticut, it has grown into a global event involving thousands of libraries. To learn more about the event, its history, and the importance of libraries in children’s lives, visit the official Take your Child to the Library Day website – and stop in at Clark Memorial Library from February 1st to February 4th to enter our TYCLD Book Basket Raffle!
Bethany Book Club has returned! The Book Club will convene on the first-floor Meeting Room on Tuesday, January 17, at 2:00 PM. The book to be discussed at the first meeting is The Dutch House, by Anne Patchett. Please join organizer Cate Horton for light refreshments and lively discussion. Books for future meetings will also be considered. For copies of The Dutch House, please call the Library for availability.
Clark Memorial Library is one of the drop-off points for Amity Regional High School’s National Honor Society Food Drive!
Food Drive donations can be put in the box in front of the Friends of the Library nook at the bottom of the stairs. Please restrict donations to reusable shopping bags and unopened, shelf-stable foods like canned vegetables. Thank you for helping us to support our local students and those in need this holiday season!
Local artist Ditas Benipayo will be offering a series of paper craft activities in our new Makerspace area downstairs, intended for students grades 1 – 5. Each week, visitors will explore a paper sculpture theme using 3-D cutouts and architectural origami. Drop-in sessions are on Wednesdays, October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th, from 2:30 – 5:30 PM, while supplies last.
We only have one post so far, but we hope that it will be only the first of many. Click the link in the upper right hand corner of the main page or visit clarkmemoriallibrary on Instagram and follow us to get updates and see images of fun library events and activities. This week we showcase the completion of the display puzzle on the upstairs landing activity table!
Join us Sunday, August 14th (rain date Sunday, August 21st) for Clark Memorial Library’s third Annual Public Art Exhibit!
The theme of this year’s show is “Off the Beaten Path.” As we continue to navigate these challenging times, what roads do we take towards the future? What paths do we forge ahead through our creative responses to the world?
This outdoor exhibit will feature paintings, sculptures, drawings, and site-specific installations by local artists. Artwork will be located throughout the front garden and the back lawn, with entry by our lush Pollinator Pathway walk-through; parking will be available at the Bethany First Church of Christ and Bethany Historical Society.
Free art-making activities will be available for visitors of all ages!
