Clark Memorial Library is excited to begin offering 3D printing services in 2025!

There will be a trial period in March while we establish policies and procedures – during which we invite patrons to take part in one of our 3D Printer Orientations, where they’ll learn about the Library’s 3D printing resources and how to use the printer and its associated software! Patrons will not be charged for prints made during the trial period.

Space is limited, so please call the Library at (203) 393-2103 or speak to a librarian in person to sign up. There will be an orientation on Tuesday, March 11, 4:30-5:00 PM, and on Saturday, March 15, 11:00-11:30 PM. It’s only necessary to attend one of the orientations; we will be covering the same information in both.

Waiting on a new book from your favorite author, or reaching the end of a series you enjoyed? Take a look at the new read-alike displays in our Adult Fiction section for suggestions on what to read next!

This month our themed book displays are filled with fantastic stories of myth and legend! Featuring both classic fairy tales and more modern fables, there’s something here for any fan of fiction – and we have books that explore the historical foundations of fantasy as well, for those who prefer facts. Stop by and try a tall tale today!

Have you seen our Sustainable Bethany display, located just outside of the Teens & Tweens area upstairs? Each of the books on display has been recommended by the Bethany Sustainability Association, the local branch of Sustainable CT.

Sustainable CT is a voluntary certification program that provides opportunities for grant funding to help communities promote economic well-being and enhance equity. Reviews of selected additions are posted on the bulletin board, providing both an overview of each book’s content and the reasoning behind its recommendation. Stop by and take a look!

Make a valentine at the Library!
Tuesday, February 4th through Friday, February 14th during Library hours, we will have supplies available in the makerspace for patrons to create their own custom Valentine’s Day cards! All ages welcome!

Nifty Needlers – Thursdays, 3:00 – 5:00 PM

Bring your latest needlework project and enjoy the company of fellow needlers, or pick up a new skill! We have yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks for those who want to learn how to knit or crochet – everyone from needlework novices to experts is welcome. Meetings will take place upstairs, in the Adult Books area to the right of the main desk.

You can pick up and/or print your 2024 income tax forms at the Library!
Physical copies of Form 1040 and Form 1040-SR, as well as instructions on how to view, download, and print Connecticut income tax forms and other IRS publications, are available on the right-hand side of the table underneath the Library bulletin board. The Library’s public computers can be used to access forms that are only available digitally; we do not charge patrons printing fees for tax forms.

January is National Hobby Month, a time to celebrate your favorite hobbies and pastimes, and to try out new ones. Our book displays this month showcase all kinds of hobbies, from outdoor activities like swimming or hiking, to artsy projects like painting or knitting, as well as stories about characters having fun following their passions. Take a look – you could pick up a new hobby, or get back into an old one that you haven’t thought about in a while!

It’s that time of year again… Our displays are filled with holiday- and winter-themed books – and this time there are even more to choose from, with three whole shelves in the Children’s Room featuring end-of-year reads. Stop by and grab a book to get you through the longest, chilliest nights of the season!

A Community Asset Since 1937

For 87 years, Clark Memorial Library has grown to meet the needs of the Bethany community. From the commitment of our original founders (like-minded citizens who felt it was important to have a library) to our current all-volunteer board and our dedicated staff, the Library has provided a welcoming environment for reading, socializing and cultural activities. The ongoing support of our patrons and benefactors allows us to continue to grow; as an Association Library, we are a non-profit that depends on the generosity of our community. Your donations are put to work immediately to support ongoing library services, from updating our physical collection and providing access to a range of digital resources to running our Makerspace, seasonal programming, and art displays!

Each year starting in fall, the Bethany Library Association raises funds to support ongoing library services in the Annual Drive. Download an Annual Drive Pledge Card to make a donation via check, or contribute via PayPal, debit, or credit card on our website. Names provided on Pledge Cards will appear in the Library’s gratitude report unless otherwise noted.

Clark Memorial Library is recognized as a non-profit 501(C)(3) and donors may deduct gifts and bequests to the Bethany Library Association as directed by the tax code.
