Celebrate Halloween in the Makerspace!
With Halloween on the horizon, we’re offering a whole assortment of spooky crafts in the Makerspace! Visitors can create a stand-up paper witch, a beaded pipe cleaner pumpkin, a custom Halloween bookmark, or a paper ghost on a stick – or choose from a selection of holiday-themed coloring and activity sheets. There’s something for everyone!
The Library’s video streaming service, Kanopy, is celebrating the approach of Halloween with Fright Fest, a collection of themed watchlists featuring dozens of eerie tales and supernatural adventures! You can use your library card number to access these lists, as well as hundreds of other classic and indie films, TV shows, and documentaries. New media and curated watchlists are added on a regular basis. This week in our Makerspace, create a special spinner card
that cycles through compliments for Mom to give her on Mother’s Day!
The craft is available during Library hours, while supplies last.
Our book displays this month feature poetry collections, books written in verse, and the biographies of famous poets, and out on the front lawn our storywalk showcases a selection of spring-themed poems and rhymes!
It’s all in honor of National Poetry Month, a celebration of poetry’s important place in our lives and poets’ integral role in our culture. Launched by a nonprofit charitable organization called the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world! This year’s National Poetry Month poster features a line of poetry by a former Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, Lucille Clifton, and artwork by children’s author and illustrator Jack Wong.
The Library will be closed on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30.

Black History Month (or African American History Month) is an annual celebration of Black history and culture originally proposed as a week-long event in 1925 by historian Carter G. Woodson. Since then it has grown into a nationally recognized event that lasts a full month! Our book displays for February feature both fiction and nonfiction books with Black authors, illustrators, and protagonists. Take a look next time you visit!

Clark Memorial Library will close at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, and remain closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24, for Thanksgiving.
The Library will open at 10:00 AM as usual on Saturday, November 25.
