Next week’s summer Makerspace activities will be
“Make Your Own Doorknob Hanger” on Wednesday, June 7th, 12:30 – 4:30 PM,
and “Perler Bead Saturday!” on Saturday, June 10th, 12:30 – 4:30 PM.
Children will color and decorate personalized doorknob hangers on Wednesday, and create designs using Perler beads to be fused into fun trinkets on Saturday.

Croquet Our Way: a Bethany Event at Clark Memorial Library

Join the Friends of the Library and our local organization and business sponsors for a morning of fun, food, and fierce croquet competition in the Library garden.

Proceeds earned through Croquet Our Way will support the Library’s Pre-K – 12th Grade Summer Reading Program and Early Literacy Projects.
Remember, the deadline for the Fourth Annual Public Art Exhibit‘s Call For Artists is Thursday, June 15! If you are interested in taking part, you can find the Application Form and more information about the event on the Arts@Clark! page of the Library’s website. Applications should be submitted to artsatclark@gmail.com; if you have any questions about the event or the application process, you can ask via the same email address or by calling the Library at 203-393-2103.
Clark Memorial Library’s children’s programming starts up again this week!
Throughout the summer, there will be morning Storytime sessions and unique Makerspace activities offered on Wednesday and Saturday of each week. Arts@Clark activities will be offered on Fridays, and the art displays in the Community room will remain available to visit. Be sure to check out the Calendar of Events to keep track of everything we have planned!
Our first Summer Makerspace activity, Spirograph Art, will take place on Saturday, June 3rd from 12:30 to 4:30 PM. Children will create colorful spirograph designs that they can turn into cards or pendants!
Clark Memorial Library wishes all of its patrons a peaceful and enjoyable holiday weekend. Remember to take a moment to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the men and women we celebrate on Memorial Day.
Clark Memorial Library will be closed on Tuesday May 23 for roof repairs.
We will open at 10:00 AM as usual on Wednesday May 24.
May is National Inventors Month! Have you seen our themed displays? They include books about all sorts of inventors and inventions, both historical and fictional, as well as educational media to help you create inventions of your own.
Pick one up when you visit the Library and get inspired!
There will be a pause in Clark Memorial Library’s children’s programming
from Tuesday May 16 through Wednesday May 31,
to give the staff time to prepare for our summer activities and programs.
Programming will resume on June 1.
The Library will continue to provide all other services during this period.

Have you seen the art exhibit in the Library’s Community Room? Throughout April and May, the exhibit features the work of local artist James Vanderberg. James moved to Bethany with his family in July of 2019 from Brooklyn, New York; he has taught Studio Art and Art History, and is currently the Educator for High School, University, and Community Engagement at the Yale Center for British Art. His art has also been featured in our past Annual Public Art Exhibits!
You can stop by any time during Library hours to visit the art exhibit. The Community Room is at the end of the right-hand hallway off of the Library’s side entrance.
Clark Memorial Library will be participating in the annual Great Give event on Wednesday May 3rd and Thursday May 4th. The Great Give is a 36-hour online fundraising event created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven in 2010, and unites donors with nonprofits serving Greater New Haven in a fun and engaging way. It raises money and awareness for many causes important to our region, with valuable matching funds and prizes from The Community Foundation, the Valley Community Foundation and other generous sponsors. Please visit the Bethany Library Association’s donation page on the Great Give website during the event to support Clark Memorial Library with a donation – any amount helps!
